John Pricci's Futurity selection indentifies winner but narrowly misses!

Keeneland's seventh race features a potential star in undefeated Bellamy Road, trained by Michael "Mad Genius" Dickinson, ridden by the great Ramon Dominguez, owned by George Steinbrenner of "Evil Empire" fame.

It is likely George will have a big weekend, given last night's ALDS results, as his Bellamy Road appears the most probable winner, having already won around two turns, learning to distribute his energy in the manner of a true two-turn runner.

But the Futurity is no walk-over. Two solid contenders, Diamond Isle and Patriot Act, makes this race interesting. Three Hour Nap is the longshot worthy of multiple-pool inclusion. Post time is tentatively scheduled at 4:12 p.m.

Strong contender: Bellamy Road (3-1)

Solid Contenders: Diamond Isle (5-1), Patriot Act (6-1)

Longshot: Three Hour Nap (8-1)

Underlay: Consolidator (5-1)

ANALYSIS: Post time odds on race's most likely winner, Bellamy Road, will be cut in half, or lower, as field is loaded into gate. Likely the best horse, he is not the best bet.
Solid contender Patriot Act, a maiden meeting winners, will likely hold morning line odds. Diamond Isle also showed propensity for two-turn racing and is drawn more favorably.

THE PLAY: Trifecta part wheel Bellamy Road first, with Patriot Act and Diamond Isle second and third, with Three Hour Nap third. Exacta box Bellamy Road  with Patriot Act and Diamond Isle, twice. Exacta box Patriot Act and Diamond Isle. Bet longer priced of the two solid contenders to win; accepting Patriot Act at 6-1 or greater and/or Diamond Isle at 4-1 or greater.
