Gulfstream
Friday, February 4, 2005
General: A number of my picks today will include favorites and lower odds horses. As you know, I don't like chalky plays. I would rather pass than cash at 6/5. Gulfstream has also harvested a number of longshots this meet. I'll caution you to play for value even at the cost of cashing a few tickets. Watch the post parade and play the wild cards when they look good and you can get value (odds).
1st Race at Gulfstream
Say's (3) brings power and early speed that should be able to hold of the others. Don Agustin (7) may have the speed to close the final fraction. Song For Sasha (2) has a blistering final fraction and should easily appear in the money. The wild card is Match Race (8) with great class and could drop in to the money. 3-7-2 (wild 8)
Finish: 5-2-7-8
Place: 5.00, 3.20
Show: 2.80
2nd Race at Gulfstream
Changing Numbers (4) will deservedly be the post time favorite. Perimeter (1) and Runwiththedevil (3) both have good credentials to finish in the money. The wild card is Golden Parachute (6) with a strong final fraction can finish in the money today. 4-1-3 (wild 6)

4th Race at Gulfstream
Vantage Star (6) has the final fraction to nose out Nan's Rose (1) over the mile. Parisian Trip (8) has good credentials but may be over bet. Glorious Raj (2) may or may not be in form to get in the money today. Play her for higher odds. 6-1-8 (wild 2)

Win: 11.60, 5.80, 3.80

6th Race at Gulfstream
This race is shaping up to potentially be very entertaining. I'll caution you not to make chalky plays since there are too many wild cards here. Classic Born (3) appears to have what it takes. Icanseeclearly (6) and Cat music (1) are both good contenders. God O Valentine (5) is my primary wildcard. Anything could happen here. 3-6-1 (wild 5)

8th Race at Gulfstream
Kennel Up (3) is a great contender at 6/1. Wild Wadi (2) has class and power. Although Royal Assault (10) has the credentials, he's not worth heavy wagering at 5/2. Nakayama Kun (4) is a great value at 20/1. 3-2-10 (wild 4)
Finish: 3-6-10-4
Win: 10.00, 5.00, 3.20
Show: 3.40
9th Race at Gulfstream
I like Provincial (2) at 5/1. Childress (6) has power and enough early speed to stay in the money. Excessed (5) has quality credentials and will factor in here. American Miss (4) could liven up our exotics. 2-6-5 (wild 4)

Place: 3.40, 3.00
Exacta: 17.40
10th Race at Gulfstream
I love Dream Launcher (1) at 6/1 to finish my late double. Wulpe (6) has food pace and will contend in the final furlongs. Nebraska Moon (4) brings enough power to finish in the money. Pegaso (2) has a chance (albeit slim) to bring a nice prize in the late race. 1-6-4 (wild 2)
Finish: 4-2-8-5 (Scratched 1)
Win: 6.40, 4.20, 3.00
Place: 13.60, 6.80
